Congratulations to all our contestants!

On Tuesday September 25, 2012, Podium Toastmasters held their club contest for the Humorous Speech and Table Topics Contests. We had new club members and some seasoned members in both competitions. In our first competition, Bryan and Derek competed in the Table Topic Contests with the word “Inspiration”. Both gave strong performances with Bryan focusing on how Toasmasters bring inspiration and Derek on how you need perspiration to have inspiration.

After the break in our meeting, we had the Humorous Speech contest and we had some fierce competition. With a total of 5 contestants competing (Jason, Ann, Sula, Adrian and Derek). Jason roused the audience with laughs about going to the drive-in and seeing “Magic Mike” with his girlfriend. Adrian entertained with his “Lost in Translation” speech about how South African english terms can get confused with English Terms. Ann invoked us with some humour about really making us think: Is honesty the best policy. Sula got lots of laughs about whether she is the best lier and Derek realized how hard it was to find his future girlfriend through his newfound skills in Toastmasters.

Derek and Bryan won first and second respectively in the Table Topics Contest. Sula and Derek won first and second place in the Humourous Speech Contest. The first and second place winners will be moving onto the Area 75 contest on October 9th to take place at the Rogers Communicators club location @ 6:30pm. You can find all the location details here. Check out the videos and photos by clicking on the links or from the ‘Showcase’ menu. Good luck to our winners!
